Obituary of Johnny Burk Brown Memorial services for Johnny Burk Brown, 76, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church with Don Ritchey officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Johnny was born in Roswell, NM on April 22, 1943 to Marshall and Ann Geneva (Edminston) Conner and passed away on April 28, 2019 at his home. He spent most of his growing up years in Aztec, NM where he graduated. During his high school years he met Sharon Green, who was a freshman to his being a senior and after graduation he went to Nebraska to harvest wheat and after his summer work he and Sharon were married in Aztec on March 26, 1963. In 1969 they came to Lovington to make their home and Johnny became self-employed and he and his boys ran a filling station and also had a pecan orchard. Johnny loved the outdoors; fishing and hunting, especially upland birds, and he trained birddogs and did field trialing with Al Strawn. He loved gospel and country music. His family all played the fiddle and guitars and sang, but Johnny mostly sang and played at home for himself. He loved his church and was very strong in his beliefs all of his life. He was a caring and well-rounded, wise, man whose passion was helping others, especially those that were down on their luck. He was the type of man that made you think, even when he was stern. He was witty, kind and a very giving person. He was a “rights fighter” and a self-made man and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death were his parents and one son: Trad Brown. Surviving him is his wife, Sharon, with whom he shared 56 years of life and love; one son: Shannon and wife Tasha of Hobbs, NM; two brothers: Erby Brown of Alaska and Dan and wife Eva Brown of Richmond, TX; one sister: Jackie and husband Bill Schneider of Bloomfield, NM; six grandchildren: Staysha and husband Ty Boatright of Shallowater, TX, Kamara and husband David Gross of Bilouxi, MS, Kalie Brown of Tatum; Tayler Brown and companion Nathan Galloway of Lovington, Kaylee Brown of Tatum and Katie Brown of NM; twelve great-grandchildren: Taylyn, Rustyn, Kory, Kollin, Dayton, Damien, Dayson, Daylyn, Bryce, Kamryn, Brandon and Bradley.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Johnny Burk Brown 1943 2019.
