John Johnny Boy Louise February 28 1929 April 4 2019

John “Johnny Boy” Louise, 90, of Sag Harbor, NY/“The Hamptons”, passed away Thursday, April 4th. He was born in Solvay to the late Jack and Catherine “Kit” (Francher) Louise in 1929. He was a graduate of Solvay High School, Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design in the US and Europe where he studied graphic design, fashion illustration and painting. He would later award scholarships at each institution. He was a member of the Art Directors Club of NYC, painting groups at Parsons and Pratt Institute in the US and Europe and he was a soloist (Lyric Tenor) in college chorales and churches. He designed newspaper ads for Sears Roebuck and Dey Brothers in Syracuse, art director at Albert Woodley Advertising Agency, senior art director at Bernard T. Grant Advertising Agency, executive art director at Vogue Patterns Illustration and Book Design, senior art director at BBDO Advertising Agency, illustrator at Elizabeth Arden, Saks Fifth Avenue and fashion illustrator for Neiman Marcus, all in NYC. He created a series of iconic, mid-century Christmas Cards for Tiffany & Co. in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He was Senior Vice President Creative Director, World Wide at Clairol and Co. in NYC and Stamford, CT. from 1960-2005. He served as a judge for the nationally broadcast Eileen Ford’s Face of the 80’s International Model Search and was awarded recognition for the original “Nice ‘N Easy” hair color package design. While at Clairol, he mentored, directed and developed talented young designers into highly effective creators of fresh, dynamic visuals for package design, print advertising, promotion designs, poster designs and strong commercial communication. From 2006 to present, he practiced ‘truth telling’, and was a Conceptual and Strategic Thinker, Creative Director, Design/Style Collaborator, Graphic Design Consultant, Design Team Developer, Art Director, Display Director and Organizational Leader. He is survived by his daughter; Stephanie Louise, of Sag Harbor, first cousins; Dorothy Anne Krascella, Stephen D. Bagozzi, Robert Mancabelli and Louis Petrangelo and many more cousins.
