Dolores Joan Nelthorpe passed away on April 26, 2019 in Hemet, CA. She was born on November 19, 1927 in St Joseph, Michigan. She was the oldest of six children born to the late Harold and Frances Deja Burkhard. She is survived by her 3 children Ron (Susan) Nelthorpe, Linda Walker and Mark (Cyndy) Nelthorpe, her 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and her brother Bob Burkhard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Nelthorpe, her parents, Harold and Frances Burkhard, brothers, Andy Burkhard and John Burkhard, sisters, Barbara Pugh and Mary Ciolek Joan graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School as Valedictorian of her class and spent two year in college. She met Ron Nelthorpe when he returned to the area after serving in the Navy in World War II and they married in St. Joseph, MI September 11, 1948. Joan was a stay at home until her children were in college. Ron was transferred to Overland Park, Kansas where they raised their family. Joan was very active with the children both in school and sports, serving as Room Mother, Brownie Leader, Den Mother, Book fair Coordinator, Great Books Leader and never missed a game of baseball, basketball or football or a swim meet. After the children were grown, Joan worked for Sun Publication and then Intertec Publishing, a division of McMillan Publishing House, where she rose to be Library/Education Sales Manager of the Book Division where she developed new markets and enjoyed travel and meeting new clients. When she retired from Intertec she started her own Marketing and Consulting Business. Ron& Joan moved to Hemet, CA in 1994 to move closer to their sons so they could be part of their grandchildren’s lives where once again it was round of attending games and activities of their grandchildren up through college. Joan was active in Literacy Programs both in Kansas and Hemet, she was a Docent at the Reservoir Water Museum for over 15 years, a sponsor in RCIA both in Kansas and Hemet, active Ministry to the Elderly Program and Scrip program at Our Lady of the Valley, she and Ron started the program in 1997. She was on the board of Sage Society from its inception. She loved reading, gardening and music. Her greatest joy was keeping in touch with her grandchildren Kristin Thompson (Luke), Ron Nelthorpe IV (Robin), Nicholas Nelthorpe (Jen), Kyle Nelthorpe (Jackie), Jacque May (Eric), Jared Nelthorpe (Kiersten). Jessica Williams (Ryan) and Joseph Nelthorpe (Whitney) and her great grandchildren who are scatted all over the country with their careers. Services…….
