Jerry’s Obituary Jerry Ray Billings, 67, of Princeton, died suddenly Monday afternoon, April 29, 2019 while serving in one of his favorite ways, picking up litter on the Pisgah Road near Princeton. Born January 31, 1952 in Mercer County, he was the son of Thelma Lusk Billings of Princeton and the late Raymond Billings. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Matoaka High School and later received his bachelor’s degree from Bluefield State College in Electrical/Technical Engineering. Jerry retired from CONSOL Energy, Buchanan Mines having 31 years of service as a coal miner. He was a member of U.M.W.A. Local # 9690 of Itmann. Jerry was a faithful member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on Halls Ridge Road, Princeton and very dedicated to Celebrate Recovery where he served as a Van driver. For many years, Jerry was devoted to the Adopt A Highway Program, having a two-mile section on the Pisgah Road named in his honor. While his health permitted, Jerry loved woodworking and going to flea markets, but most of all, he loved going to Starbucks. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Waddie and Alma Fuda, who loved him as a son. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Diana Fuda Billings; Three children, Leah Long, Tera Dillow and husband Jason, Dana Hawks and husband Brian; Seven grandchildren, Chelsey Ruble and husband Tyler, Kyle Dillow, Jared Long, Kara and Erika Dillow, Jordin Hawks and Kolie Hawks; Three great-grandchildren and one on the way, Tylee, Teagan, Peyton and Taben; Siblings, Patty Basham and husband Terry, Frances Mills and her late husband Eanon, Teresa Thomason and husband Richard along with a host of extended family and friends. We will celebrate the life of Jerry Ray Billings at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 2, 2019 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Jim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
