James Lewis Smith December 2 1927 April 14 2019

James Lewis Smith age 91 of Rogersville entered into his eternal peace in the valley, Sunday morning (4/14/19), which he sang about his entire life. He enjoyed both singing and attending church as long as his health permitted. He is preceded in death by wife; Dorothy Skelton Smith, parents; Rev. Sam K. and Florence Burchfield Smith, brothers; Bill , Earl, J.H. and Fred Smith, brother-in-law; Elmer and Freda Skelton, several half brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter; Tammy Morelock (Mike), son; Donnie Smith (Marcella), several nieces and a nephew. The family would like to thank a special neighbor; David, Amedysis Hospice, Jennifer and staff at Church Hill Drug Store and to Dr. Daniel Carroll for his years of dedication. Serving Mr. Smith as pallbearers will be, Greg Skelton, Terry Hunley, Eddie and Marty Mowell, and honorary, Tony Mowell. Providing music for his services will be Tim and Tina Morgan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday (4/18/19) at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Carroll Manis officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Friday (4/19/19) at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent the family at www.christiansells.com.
