Pensacola, FL-Douglas R. Carrolan, 54, of Pensacola, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Covenant Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola following a brief illness. Doug was born in Albany April 9, 1965 the son of James and Ellen (Eighmey) Carrolan of Salem. He graduated from Salem Washington Academy and following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While proudly serving his country, Doug was deployed many times on aircraft carriers sailing around the world in defense of the United States. He loved working on military jets and one of his favorite jet was the F-14 “Tomcat”. His favorite port of call was Palma, Spain. Doug always wanted to go back to Palma on a Mediterranean cruise. Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Doug was currently employed by Boeing as a Quality Systems Specialist and Team Leader for Propitiatory Programs. Doug loved New Orleans and would visit as often as possible. He loved the culture and met many people who became not just friends, but family. He loved the beautiful beaches in the Bahamas and enjoyed camping in Williamsburg with his companion and her children. Doug is survived by his parents, James and Ellen Carrolan; a daughter, Kimberly (Christopher) Landry of Chesapeake, VA and their son, Ethan; a son, James Carrolan of Virginia Beach, VA and his son, Ryder Carrolan; his longtime companion, Christy Myers of Pensacola and her children, Caitlyn (Matt) Nobbs and their daughter, Everleigh, Connor, Morgan and Kira Myers. Doug is also survived by a brother, Peter Carrolan of Salem; a sister, Susan Carrolan of Aspen, CO and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Holy Cross Church, 249 North Main Street, Salem. A funeral service will be at 11:00 am following the calling hours. Interment with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Salem. Following the services, a luncheon will be in the church hall.
