Mrs. Almira’s Obituary On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, God called home is beloved child, Almira Younger who was beloved daughter, mother grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. Almira was born on May 24, 1936 in Gretna, Virginia to the late John A. Miller and Ethel Tatum Miller of Pittsylvania County. She began her walk with the Lord by becoming a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She graduated from Northside High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Franklin D. Younger on August 3, 1957. They were blessed with four children and raised them in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After forty-seven years of marriage, Franklin was called to his Heavenly home in 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, Almira was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois M. Price, Lillian Ford; two brothers, John Miller, Jr., Roosevelt Miller and one great grandson, Jayden Powell. Almira was a homemaker and worked as dry-cleaning business owner and seamstress during the early years of her children’s life. She was very instrumental in the rearing of her daughter’s two children while her daughter worked and attended graduate school. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted daughter, Echelmeier Younger-Bagby (George) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her son’s, Manfred J. Younger (Cecilia), Stanford R. Younger, Zeus (aka Bradford) Younger; three grandchildren, Robert L. Powell, IV, Brandon T. Powell and Manfred J. Younger, Jr.; eleven great grandchildren, Laniyah Powell, Zaire Powell, Naleigh Powell, Somaya Powell, Samaj Powell, Sky Powell, Starbonnie, Treasure and Mekhi Powell; two sisters, Evelyn Farmer of Altavista, Virginia and Delma Younger of Gretna, Virginia; one brother, Theodore Miller (Patricia) of Gretna, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
