William Decatur “Kator” Gillikin, 60, of Otway, loving husband, and father, and grandfather passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Carolina East Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, with Rev. Dell Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens in Beaufort. Born on August 25, 1958, to Ervine and Nina Gillikin. He attended East Carteret High School where he met and married his sweetheart Donna Cagle, wife of 42 years. He was always looking for ways to bring smiles and joy to those he met and will be remembered for his joking manner. He loved his job working at Marinex Construction and Dredging Co. since the age of 18. His life’s passion was tinkering with cars, engines, and motorcycles with his friends and family, but especially the time it gave him to share with his son Billy. The light of his life was his granddaughter “Pumpkin” Cealest, she brought him so much love, joy, and laughter. He adored all of his sibling, nieces, nephews and was a committed friend to so many. Decatur is survived by his wife, Donna Gillikin of the home; son, William “Billy” Gillikin of Otway; granddaughter, Cealest Gillikin of Otway; siblings, Robert “Bob” Gillikin of South Carolina, Martha Ann Willis of Harkers Island, Belma Rose of Harkers Island, and Nancy Fay Willis of Harkers Island; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervine and Nina Gillikin and brother Harold Gillikin. The family will receive friends 12 p.m. till 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.
