William Bernard Bill Holm 1941 2018

Obituary for William Bernard “Bill” Holm Holm, William Bernard Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 9th. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Sunday, August 19, at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, 501 W 78th St., Chanhassen – visitation at 1:30 pm, service at 2 pm with more visitation following. In keeping with Bill’s love for stories we are encouraging attendees to share remembrances of Bill at the service. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Virginia Holm and by his youngest daughter, Missy. He is mourned and deeply missed by his wife, Kristi Holm; his daughter, Jennifer Holm; his son, William Holm (Chrislee); grandchildren, Raven, Alexandra and Liam, as well as many other relatives and friends. Bill graduated from Bloomington High School, served in the U.S. Army and attended the University of Minnesota. Bill joined a local newspaper (The Laker) in 1972. His work at the paper included a variety of responsibilities throughout the years. Enjoying it and the people he worked with so much, Bill had been known to say, “this is more than a job, it’s a way of life.” His gregarious nature and well developed sense of humor helped him forge many meaningful relationships. Bill loved telling stories, making people laugh with his quick wit and his way with words. These qualities endeared him to so many throughout his life. After working at The Laker / Pioneer newspapers for 31 years Bill retired as managing editor. Still wishing to engage with the public, Bill was fortunate to be able to join the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres in the position of Customer Relations, a natural position for one who loved interacting with people. Heartfelt thanks to his Chanhassen Dinner Theatres family. From the day Bill first joined them, right up through his last days in hospice, their kindness and support has meant so much. Our family will also forever have unending gratitude to N.C. Little Hospice in Edina for all the phenomenal tender loving care and attention Bill received. Their amazing compassionate tenderness eased his final journey in comfort and peacefulness. In so many truly heartfelt, remarkable ways they ministered to our family as well. Memorials preferred and may be directed to N.C. Little Memorial Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, MN 55435.
