Michael J. Handlan, age 65, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 15, 2019 from kidney cancer. Mike was born in Biloxi, MS in 1953 to John F. and Sarah A. Handlan (Smith). He was raised in Geneva, NY the heart of the Finger Lakes. He served his country with the New York State Army National Guard, Company B and was a member of the American Legion, Winnek Post #396. He was also a volunteer member of the C.J. Folger Hook and Ladder Company of the Geneva NY Fire Department. In his mid-twenties he moved to the Central Florida area and had various jobs before finding his true career with the Florida Citrus Sports Stadium and Tinker Field. He coached his daughters in basketball and softball and taught both girls to play the game he loved most, golf. He was a member of Royal St. Cloud Golf Links and after he retired with over 20 years at the City of Orlando he worked part time at the golf course. He is survived by his former wife Robin R. And his two daughters Jessica L. And Karen E. Handlan. His sisters, Patricia A. Debolt, Barbara Kindel and Ellen Cavalli of Geneva, NY. Teresa Mallett, his significant other, and her blended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother James G. Handlan. Mike’s “tee time” is 5:30pm for his celebration.
