Michael James “PoPo” Pittman, of Salem, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 70. Michael was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 9, 1948 to the late Ray and Fern (Loughridge) Pittman. Michael proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force. Michael married the love of his life Miss Mary Malone on October 6, 1979. This union was blessed with a daughter. Michael and Mary loved to travel and took several cruises over the 39 years they were married. Michael loved music, singing, bowling, and his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, and loved to go to their sporting events and activities they participated in. Michael worked for the Salem Memorial Hospital in Medical Records for 39 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Michael James Pittman is survived by his wife Mary, of the home; daughter Becky Laney and husband Joe, of Rolla, Missouri; sister, Sandra Skaggs and husband Larry, of Morrison, Missouri; grandchildren, Brittany Shepherd and husband Caleb, Joel Laney, and Emma Laney; great-grandchildren, Titan, and Isaiah Shepherd; a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Fern Pittman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Shannon Lambert officiating. Internment will follow at the Morrison Cemetery with Joel Laney, Jeff Brooks, Jarrod Brooks, Caleb Shepherd, Tim Skaggs, and Joe Laney serving as pallbearers, and Rob Skaggs, Brittany Shepherd, Emma Laney, Becki Skaggs, and Teresa Skaggs serving as honorary pallbearers. A visitation fro family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 4-6PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, cards are available at all James & Gahr locations.
