Johnnie Isaac (John) Bergthold February 15, 1934 – March 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Services for Johnnie Isaac Bergthold, 85, of the Santa Fe community, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Southfork Presbyterian Church with Reverend Larry Hinds and Reverend John Grimmett officiating. Burial will be in Southfork Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Perry. Mr. Bergthold passed away at 1:18 p.m. March 7, 2019 at his residence. He was born the ninth of thirteen children in Princeville, IL on February 15, 1934, the son of Isaac H. and Rachel Delores Gill Bergthold. He was married to Barbara Jean Myers in Pittsfield, IL on December 26, 1954 and she survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Randy (Melody) Bergthold and Richard (Gay) Bergthold, both of Perry; two daughters, Tammy (Leo) Krogmann of Paris and Laura (Todd) Koppinger of Centralia; one sister, Bonnie (Richard) Utterback of Perry; fourteen grandchildren, Christopher (Alisa) Willingham, Amy (Guy) Mitchell, Kimberly (Keil) Erwin, Emily (Mark) Hoger, Leanna Krogmann, Katie (Adrian) Lorincz, Karen (Garett) Bickel, Keith (Megan) Bergthold, Casey (Ashley) Bergthold, Cory (Alicia) Bergthold, Teresa (Gary) Culp, Cal (Hannah) Bergthold, Madison Koppinger, and Charles Koppinger; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Theresa Ann Bergthold, one son, John Robert Bergthold, one son-in-law, Danny Ray Willingham, five brothers, Harold Bergthold, Richard Bergthold, Douglas Bergthold, James Bergthold and Bruce Bergthold and six sisters, Ester Conner, Joann Rumbolt, June Hoyt, Audrey LIttle, Joyce Schneider, and Judy Umstattd. Mr. Bergthold was primarily a lifetime area resident, 1953 graduate of Perry High School and served as Ordained Deacon at Stoutsville Baptist Church and Perry Baptist Church. Most recently, he served on the Leadership Committee at Brush Arbor Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1957 at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA. Upon his discharge, he returned to the family farm until his retirement. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. Pallbearers will be Christopher Willingham, Casey Bergthold, Cory Bergthold, Keith Bergthold, Cal Bergthold. and Randy Bergthold. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Koppinger, Adrian Lorincz, Guy Mitchell, Garrett Bickel, Kiel Erwin and Gary Culp.
