Shirley Yvonne Garner, age 83, of Crossett, AR, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Epps, LA to Howard and Decie Parrish McCandlish. She was a retired nurse who worked for Ashley County Hospital when it was located on Main Street in Crossett. She loved to read and played the piano by ear. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Decie McCandlish; her husband, Sillvester Garner; one son, Keith Gordon Copes; one granddaughter, Melanie Copes; one brother, Phillip McCandlish and one sister, Lorene McBroom. Mrs. Garner is survived by one son, Alton Roy Copes of Monroe, LA; one daughter, Rebecca Blankenship of Crossett, AR; two brothers, Donald McCandlish and Roy McCandlish, both of Monroe, LA; one sister, Lula Tolar of Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. A memorial service for Shirley Garner will be at 11:00am on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Jones Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation is from 10:00am until 11:00am, one hour prior to the service.
