Mr. Charles “Hooper” Tart, 86, of Newton Grove passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Mr. Tart’s funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 St. Paul’s Freewill Baptist Church, Newton Grove beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Friday, February 8th at St. Paul’s Freewill Baptist Church from 6 till 8 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Frank Grubbs and Rev. Paul Rose. Mr. Tart will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Honors. His survivors include his wife Shirley W. Tart of the home, daughters; Lark T. Thornton and husband Keith of Newton Grove, Mary Starr Tart of Newton Grove, sons; Charles H. Tart, Jr., and wife Sherry of Newton Grove, James Glenn Tart and wife Lisa of Newton Grove. Grandchildren; Loren Thornton and wife Emily, Cherish Naylor and husband Christopher, Charles H. Tart, III and wife Macey, Chance Thornton, Candice Phillips and husband Brandon, Natalie McCullen and husband Zeke, Ariel Thornton and wife Connor and Bratley Tart. Nine great grandchildren and his sister; Doris Dickens of Littleton, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bratley and Murtie W. Tart, brothers; Talmage Tart, Joe Stock Tart and Braston Tart. ** Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Freewill Baptist Church or to St. Jude’s Children Hospital ** Online condolences may be made at www.westanddunn.com Services have been entrusted to West & Dunn Funeral Homes, Inc., Newton Grove, North Carolina.
