He attended Thomas Jefferson High School, Virginia Military Institute and graduated from the University of Virginia. His college life was followed by two years in the Army, where he served mostly in Japan. He then returned to Richmond and joined West Engineering Co., which was begun by his father in 1919. Beverley was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alma West; and three brothers, Edward Jr., John and David. He is survived by his sisters, Eugenia Ferrell, Joanne Stebick, Betsy Nuttycombe (Charles), Mary Faith West and Kathleen Straight (Bill); and one brother, Stephen (Brenda). A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, Va. Memorials may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at 3803 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, Va. 22203.
