Obituary of William Hardin Hardin, William M. “Bill” Bill Hardin, 86, went to live with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018, Veterans Day, after a lengthy battle with COPD. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Bill was born to the late William and Addie Hardin in Rome, GA on November 13, 1931. He was the youngest of three children surviving his sisters Frances and Emily. He spent his childhood years in Georgia before moving to Jacksonville, FL where he graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1949. Bill was enlisted in the Naval Air Reserves for 8 years based in Jacksonville, FL as a combat crew member and plane captain on the Gruman TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber. He received his AA degree from Miami-Dade Junior College. He married his sweetheart Nancy Hitchcock on June 14, 1958, in Miami, FL. Bill enjoyed a 36-year career with Western Electric (AT&T) in Miami, FL. After retirement he moved to Deland, FL where he completed another 31-year career with Haynes Bros. Furniture. Bill was a lifelong, devout Christian and served in numerous roles at Northwest Baptist Church (Miami, FL) and Stetson Baptist Church (Deland, FL). He most enjoyed sharing his Faith with others and his role as a Deacon. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, attending ball games, telling stories, travelling, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Nancy, his two sons Cary (Sheila) and David (Ana), his 4 Grandchildren Ricky (Gayle), Brittany (Jason), Tristan, and Talia, his 4 Great Grandchildren Kyleigh, Kinley, Luke, and Cole. Visitation will be held at Stetson Baptist Church, Deland, FL on Sunday, November 18 at 2:00pm, followed by Celebration of Life service at 3:00pm and reception.
