William “Bill”‘s Obituary William “Bill” Riegler, age 99, of Canton, passed away early Saturday morning. He was born in Canton to the late Ralph and Florence (Sperry) Riegler. Bill was a Lieutenant Colonel serving in WWII as a B17 Bomber Pilot flying thirty-nine missions. He retired from the US Post Office where he worked in finance. Bill was a member of Christ the Servant Catholic Parish as well as their men’s club. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Mary Jane; children, David (Debbie) Riegler, Stephen Riegler, Carol (Bill) Schmalzl, Joanne Smith and Marilyn (Kevin) Malloy; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Christ the Servant Catholic Parish with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano as celebrant. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: MAPS Air Museum Endowment Fund, Akron Community Foundation, 345 W. Cedar St., Akron, OH 44307.
