Rosalie Griffey 2019

Rosalie Griffey, 78 of Collinsville, Illinois formerly of Granite City, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Cedarhurst of Collinsville. Rosalie was born on March 14, 1940 in Litchfield, Illinois; the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Currie) Thing. Rosalie was a computer operator at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City and a member of Solid Rock Free Methodist Church. Her greatest love was her family and she was a dedicated grandma spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rosalie will be remembered for the love of her family and all the special times they shared together. Rosalie is survived by and will be missed by her daughters; Angela (David) Bigham of Collinsville, Lisa Gamble of Maryville; grandchildren, Brad (Rachel) Bigham, Michael (Lindsey) Bigham, Shelby (Nate) Rozycki, Jacob Gamble; great-grandchild, Hendrix David Bigham; brother, Richard (Ellen) Thing; sister, Georgia Odorizzi, and all her Cedarhurst family. In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband; James W. “Bill” Griffey, whom she married on October 18, 1958; her son, James Scott Griffey; sisters, Susan Best, Hazel Daley. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Revisky officiating. Burial will follow at Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Heartland Hospice.
