Robert’s Obituary Robert Mathis, 82, of Goshen died Tuesday, Jan. 22 at his home. He was born Oct. 15, 1936 in Indianapolis to Phreno & Carrie (Shook) Mathis. On Jan. 18, 1958 he married Mary E. Coats in Goshen. Mary survives along with children, William Mathis, Anchorage, Alaska, Robin Renee (Jeff) Truex, Mishawaka, Robert (Carla) Mathis, Goshen, Brett Alan (Pam) Mathis, Des Moines, Iowa, and Katrina (Terry) Cripe, Goshen; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a sister, Marianne Crites, Kokomo. He was preceded in death by brothers, Freeman and Wilbur Mathis; sisters, Louise Hughes and Hazel Gilliland; and his twin sister, Roberta Crane. A Goshen resident for the past 65 years, Robert was a member of the DAV and LifePoint Church. He enjoyed fishing and loved playing euchre with his family. He retired from Bristol Products/PVC pipe where he was a truck driver and later retired from Goshen Community Schools. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Saturday funeral service will take place with Rev. Troy Scott and Rev. Jeff Truex officiating. Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to LifePoint Church or Goshen Center for Cancer Care. Read More
