Larry E. Brinson, Sr.

Larry Eugene Brinson, Sr., 60, of Jacksonville, entered the sunset of life on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Miller County Hospital, Colquitt, GA. The son of Dan and Annie (Bartley) Brinson, II, he was born on Wednesday, July 2, 1958 in Palatka. He was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School. Larry was a longtime member of First Born Church of the Living God, Palatka, and was later affiliated with New Life Ministries Church, Jacksonville and Second Chance Ministries, Jacksonville, where he served as the minister of music. He was formerly employed as a maintenance worker at Jerome’s BBQ. Larry enjoyed spending time entertaining family, playing musical instruments, learning and teaching others how to play musical instruments, especially the guitar. He was a free-hearted and fun-loving person. He loved to entertain and “cut the fool.” Larry was a man’s man. He catered to his wife and anyone who needed him. Larry truly loved his family and knew his scriptures.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Demetrius McCaskill; sister, Louise Campbell, Frances Varner, Linda Mack, Catherine Daniels, Sharon Harrell; brothers, Sylvester Brinson, Sr., Lamar Brinson, Richard Brinson; mother-in-law, Frances Williams; sister-in-law, Shannon Y. Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Stephanie Dianne Brinson, Jacksonville; sons, Larry (Angela) Brinson, III, Ocala; Larry Brent (Lisa) Brinson, Jr., Palatka; Kevin (Valentina) Brinson, Crescent City; Inneshio Mike (Teri) Brinson, Palatka; Anthony Hill, Lake City; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan (Angela) Brinson, III, Timothy Brinson, Sr., both of Palatka; Joseph (Barbara) Brinson, Denver, CO; special sister, Claudia Johnson, Palatka; sisters, Bettye Coley, Beverly (Sherman) Canty, Anna (Lynwood) Alridge, all of Palatka; a host of nieces and nephews, including special niece, Sheila Brinson-Williams, Jacksonville; aunt, Lucille Madry; father-in-law, Eddie Williams; sister-in-law, Kelli Williams; brother-in-law, Eddie J. Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends, including best friend, Kenny Baskins.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, January 25, at “Flagg’s Chapel of Serenity.” A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 26, at Passionate First Born Church of the Living God, 1708 Madison Street, Palatka, Elder James Matthews, Pastor is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
