Norma Jean O’Brien, 85, of Jacksonville passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born, July 24, 1933, in Roodhouse, the daughter of Raymond and Nellie Mae Dyer Cummins. Surviving are children; Deborah Ann (companion, Bruce) Strang of Jacksonville, James Patrick (companion, Trish) O’Brien of Versailles, and Leonard Eugene (Brenda) O’Brien of Greenfield; grandchildren, Tatyn Walker, Tory Deweese, Zach O’Brien and JT Wilcut; and great grandchildren, Kolton Deweese, Koby Deweese and Gideon O’Brien/Walker. Also surviving are siblings, Raymond “Junior” Cummins of Mena, AR and Alice Orton of Washington, IL. She was preceded in death by ten siblings. Norma attended the First Baptist Church in Roodhouse and Greenfield. She enjoyed wood working projects, puzzles, reading, embroidering and making memories with family and friends. Norma supported Cancer Awareness after being a two-time cancer survivor herself. Later in life, her pet sitting business brought her much joy. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, the First Baptist Church in Roodhouse with interment in Richwoods Cemetery east of Roodhouse. A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Memorials are suggested to the Mia Ware Foundation.
