Nelson “Roger” Sandy, age 78 of Jackson Twp., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 4, 2019. He was born July 3, 1940, in Canton, the son of the late Nelson and Glenna Sandy. Roger was a Captain in the U.S. Army serving from 1964 to 1970. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after 35 years of service. Roger was a member of McDonaldsville United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, cars (both large and small), NASCAR, and photography. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Sandy, daughters, Valorie (Brian) Clevenger, Brenda (Kurt) Grannan, Melanie Sandy; sisters, Lois Pinhard, Debbie (Phil) Wymer; grandchildren Savannah, Charlotte and Chance Clevenger, Cole and Ava Grannan. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home – Jackson Chapel, with Pastor Jamie Walters officiating. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10 A.M. Burial to follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
