OBITUARY Marvin L. Smith August 4, 1920 – January 21, 2019 Marvin L. Smith, 98, of Davenport, IA passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest in National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Marvin was born on August 4, 1920 to Glenn and Inez (Webb) Smith in Batavia, IA. Growing up in Michigan, he met the love of his life Dawn M. Church. They were united in marriage on August 18, 1943 in Fort Sill, OK. After serving two years in the Army Air Corp. as a navigator on a B-17, he graduated from Michigan State with a mechanical engineering degree. He worked as a manufacturer’s representative and was a member of several professional engineering organizations. His wife, Dawn, and Marvin were founding members of Christ United Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Dawn; children: Sue Thomas of Boise, ID, Kandis Croom of Mt. Home, AR, Nancy (Robert) Stamm of Bettendorf, IA, Marvin G. (Erin) Smith of Lenexa, KS and Jason (Kelli) Smith of Wilmington, NC; eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
