Wertz, 102, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hershey & Hummelstown, passed away on January 27, 2019 in Elizabeth Manor.She was born November 19, 1916 in Hershey, a daughter of the late Walter and Mable (Long) Leibfried. After graduating from Hershey High School, Kathryn was employed at the Hershey Company for several years and the Dauphin National Bank. She was a very active member of The Second City Church in Harrisburg, and volunteered at the American Cancer Society in Hershey and the Harrisburg Food Bank. Her hobbies included knitting and doing crafts for her church and nursing homes. She loved birding. Kathryn is survived by; brother, Richard (Mary Jane) Leibfried, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George D. Wertz; sisters, Sarah Robertson, Jean Schwanger, Betty Fenicle, and Peggy Derr, also brothers, Walter, Edgar, John,Harry Leibfried A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 12:00 pm in The Second City Church, 251 Verbeke Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, p o box 897,Hershey, PA 17033 or to her church.
