OBITUARY Mrs. Irene M. Grimshaw June 4, 1926 – January 25, 2019 Irene “Renee” (Marmaras) Grimshaw, age 91, of Barrington, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Grace Barker Health Center in Warren. She was the wife of the late Alfred W. Grimshaw, Jr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late George and Ellen (Leighton) Marmaras. Mrs. Grimshaw attended RI Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1947 followed by Boston University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. She went on to work at RI Hospital as a Registered Nurse and in 1964 she became the first school Nurse at Moses Brown where she also taught Health class to the 7th grade classes, retiring in 2003. She had a passion for gardening and was very involved in 4H and Cub Scouts. She is survived by her loving children; Nancy E. Scanlon and her husband Ted of Warwick, Alfred W. Grimshaw, III of Northport, ME, Scott R. Grimshaw of Odenton, MD and Jonathan P. Grimshaw of Bristol, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings; George Keyes, John Marmaras and Mabel Fuller. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home and will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
