Geraldine Marie Gooch, 77, Auburn, formerly of New Paris, died 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at Betz Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Milford, to Jacob & Grace (Wineland) Pease. She married David Lee Stanley and he died Feb. 14, 1978. On Jan. 17, 1981, Geraldine married Chester “Chet” Gooch Jr. and he died Nov. 29, 2007. Surviving are a daughter, Vicki Gardner, Avilla, sons, Dana (Rebecca) Stanley, Topeka, David (April) Stanley, New Paris, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a sister, Maxine Rogers, Milford. Preceding her in death are her parents, husbands, Chet & David, great-grandchildren, Maleke Stanley, Trista Douglas and 9 siblings. Geraldine retired from Excel Rubber Company as a Parts Inspector. She was a member of the New Paris Church of the Brethren, VFW & DAV, Goshen. Visitation will be 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, with the funeral service following at 12 p.m., all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
