Mr. Gary N. Hasper, 83, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 30, 2019. He was born February 22, 1935 to Gerrit and Joan (Wildrom) Hasper in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Gary was always very active in the Muskegon community. He was very devoted to his family, he loved life and spending time with his many friends. He had owned Haspers, Hasper E, and Hasper Save Mor Grocery Stores before starting his career with Woodman Accident and Life Insurance. He was a charter member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church where he served in different leadership roles and committees. He served in the Naval Reserves, was active with Mona Lake Improvement Association for 50 years, Ambucs for 50 years, Youth for Christ, and M.A.D. House Ministry. Gary loved boating and golfing, and was always ready to play any card game with his family. On January 31, 1961 Gary married Anita J. VanAndel, and she survives him along with 3 children: Scott (Kristy) Hasper, Steven (Karen) Hasper, Suzanne (Phil) Schuiteman; 5 grandchildren: Lindsay (Miralem) Ercegovcevic, Lee (Jill) Hasper, Sheena Walraven, Lauren (Drew) Johnson, Matthew Schuiteman; 5 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joann Vriesman; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held Saturday, February 9, at 11:00 AM at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 973 W. Norton.
