Dorothy Emma (Grah) Sabo, 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 6:25 a.m. with her family at her side. She was born October 11, 1927 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Raymond H. Grah and the late Emma E. (Ede) Grah Toth. She married Theodore H. “Ted” Sabo on April 7, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Granite City and he passed away on July 20, 2008. Dorothy was a graduate of Granite City High School class of 1946. She worked several years at F.W. Woolworth in the record department and also at Bob’s Sandwich Shop as a waitress. After her marriage to Ted, she diligently cared for her family for the remainder of her life. She was a proud and faithful member of Third Baptist Church in Granite City since 1938 and is a member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City. Dorothy was an avid bowler and played in a senior bowling league at Bowland until she was 86 years old. She also walked five miles a day well into her eighties. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Marie and Michael Perry of St. Charles, Missouri; a granddaughter and her husband, Danielle and Douglas Standish of Wentzville; five great grandchildren, Steffan, Noah, Madison, Aidan and Rylie; other extended family and many friends. In addition to her beloved husband of sixty years and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond H. Grah Jr. and a sister, Marjorie Martinko. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jarad Corzine officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church or to SSM Hospice and may be accepted at the funeral home.
