Dewey’s Obituary Funeral services for Mr. Dewey Kelley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Billy Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery, Aloha, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. Mr. Kelley, 71, of Colfax, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Dewey was born with mental disabilities that limited his understanding of this world but in no way restricted his enjoyment of life. He served as a constant reminder to those around him to take the time to appreciate life’s simple pleasures. While friends and family were dealing with adult worries, Dewey found contentment in watching a record spin around on the stereo as the music played and rubbing foreheads with every new baby he encountered. As a result, he taught his family and friends far more about life and how it should be lived than they ever could have taught him. He lived life with a pure heart, was generous with his hugs and considered everyone he met part of his family. Mr. Kelley is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Deddie Kelley; one brother, Arnold Kelley and one sister, Rita Chevallier. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include two sisters, Darlene Antee and her husband Johnny of Colfax, Judy Bishop and her husband Ronnie of Sillas, MS.; two brothers, Clyde E. Kelley of Colfax, Mike Kelley of Colfax; numerous nieces and nephews; his caregivers, Hershal and Maxine Williams, the staff of Oakridge Community Home and a host of other family and friends. Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 12:00 noon until time of service.
