Caroline Jarzbek January 25, 1925 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book Caroline (Bednar) Jarzbek, 94. Heaven has gained one of Earth’s kindest souls on January 27, 2019. Caroline was born to Michael and Suzanne (Gayara) Bednar, on Jan. 25, 1925, in Hebron. As a child growing up during the Great Depression, Caroline and her siblings worked tirelessly on the family farm and somehow found study time. She graduated from Windham High School in 1943 and later moved to Middletown. Caroline worked many jobs helping the war effort, including manufacturing at New Departure in Meriden. She met her soulmate John Jarzbek and were married 41 years until John passed in 1991. She later worked with her sisters Ellen and Marian, and niece Joyce at the Steak Club in Rocky Hill, and eventually worked her way up to become head banquet waitress. Caroline was a dedicated mother to her three sons, helping them through the bumps and bruises of life. She taught them the lessons from her humble beginnings insisting that each get the best education. She was an avid gardener, cook, knitter, Polka dancer, and source of comfort to her family and to all whom she met. Caroline was an active member of St Paul’s Church in Middletown. After retiring, she dedicated her efforts to the church where she served as treasurer and on many other committees. She helped in all their fundraising efforts especially with the craft fairs. What gave her the most precious rewards was visiting shut-in church members. Caroline was also member of the Elks Lodge Emblem Club and the Westfield Grange. She is survived by her sons, John Jarzbek Jr and wife Deb, Charles Jarzbek, and Robert Jarzbek and wife Elmira, and sister-in-law Mary Bednar. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by her husband, John Jarzbek; her sisters, Anne Masselli, Millie Kowalski, Ellen Lasky, Betty Mastzal, Marian Patnaude; and her brother, Charles Bednar. We especial what to thanks the staff at Luther Ridge for all their exceptional care. To the special people who knew Caroline, she always thought of you, she always listened and relished your triumphs, and she was always there with wisdom and kindness which was the soul she cared on this Earth. Caroline was so dearly loved by so many and will be truly missed. Her Funeral Services will be held at Faith Lutheran at 300 Washington St, Middletown, CT, on Friday February 1, 2019 at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm.
