Carol J. Gunderson, 88, of Grand Island passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at All Faiths Funeral Home, family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Joel Henson will lead the celebration of life services. Private family burial will be held at Cedarview Cemetery. Carol was born on January 7, 1931 at Harvey, North Dakota, daughter of Lloyd and Maybell (Crawford) Elias. Soon Carol and her family made Washington their home for many years. It was in Washington where Carol graduated high school and met the love of her life, John Gunderson. On February 10, 1952 she married John Gunderson, they began their lifelong adventure of raising three boys and traveling across America and Mexico. They made Grand Island their home in 1979. Carol and John did everything together and Carol was ready to tackle any activity that John brought her way. She was a go -getter, anything from horseback riding to motorcycle riding. Carol and John enjoyed wintering in Mexico for many years. She loved to garden and swimming was a lifelong passion. Carol was a beloved Grandma, a title she took seriously and enjoyed a close relationship with her grandsons, Tyler and Tanner. Anyone who knew her loved her. Her memory is cherished by her sons, Lloyd Gunderson of Grand Island, and Michael Gunderson of WA; sisters, Mickey Bobst and Penny Jetters; grandchildren, Tyler Gunderson, Tanner Gunderson, Sarah Parrett and Rachel Gunderson; great-grandson, Mason Parrett; along with numerous extended family and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, John and son, Art. Memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
