Barbara J.Nickerson August 2, 1923-January 23, 2019 Barbara J. Nickerson, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Settlers Place in La Porte, Indiana. She was born August 2, 1923 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the daughter of Robert Reese and Marie (Rice) Reese. Barbara was a teacher at the Rolling Prairie Elementary School for 28 years. She was a life long resident of the Rolling Prairie area and was a member of the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Lionettes, Indiana Retired Teachers Assoc., and the National Education Assoc. On March 25, 1943 in New Carlisle, Indiana, she married Robert Louis Nickerson who preceded her in death February 10, 2007. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Webb of La Porte, IN, Dottie (Jim) Davis of La Porte, IN; son, Terry (Joann) Nickerson of Rolling Prairie, IN; Seven Grandchildren, Kathryn Austin, David Armstrong, Tonya Nickerson, Troy Nickerson, Amanda Davis, Sarah Huff, Andrew Davis and fifteen great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister, Dorothy Wheatbrook. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Family will receive friends Monday, January 28, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, 3444 E. US Highway 20, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371. A life celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana at a later date.
