REYNOLDSBURG, OHIO – Waltraut E. Cheney, 89 of Broadwyn Drive, Reynoldsburg, OH passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her loving family at her side. She was born in Mineola, NY the daughter of the late Hermann and Rosa (Schmidt) Albrecht. At the age of 6 she relocated to Germany where she resided with her grandmother Christiana (Britsch) Schmidt, and was educated in local schools. In 1948 she returned to the United States. In 1951 she enrolled at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn to study art. Here is where she met her future husband Harold W. Cheney, Jr. On October 24, 1953 just before Harold was to leave for service in Korea he and Waltraut were united in marriage in New York City sharing a beloved union of 65 years. She is survived by her husband Harold, Reynoldsburg, OH, two sons Timothy P. Cheney and his wife Judy, Glenside, GA and Harold W. Cheney, III and his wife Lori, Reynoldsburg, OH, five daughters Rose Ann Cheney and her husband Howard Wiener, Philadelphia, PA, Carolyn M. Cheney and her husband Steaphan Scott, Columbus, OH, Elizabeth H. Cheney and her husband Judson McCranie, Brunswick, GA, Mary N. Kretsch, Cummings, GA and Gwendolyn L. Rivera and her husband Juan, Maui, HI, a brother Erwin Albrecht, New Mexico, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, NY in the spring of 2019. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY.
