Walter Dupree Newark – Walter Dupree, 96 entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Family will greet friends at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., on Saturday, Dec. 22 from 11AM – 1PM with a funeral service to follow calling at 1 PM. Burial will follow the funeral service at Rest Haven Cemetery, Phelps, NY. In memory of Walter, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 Walter was born the son of the late Edgar and Josie (Jackson) Dupree on Thursday, February 09, 1922, in Tifton, Georgia. Walter served in the US Navy from 1943 – 1946. Walter was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lyons, NY. He was devoted to his faith and even helped build many churches. Walter enjoyed working, and socializing with friends and family. The funeral home proudly flies the Navy Flag in honor of Walter’s service to our country during WWII. Walter will be remembered by his son, William (Kate) Roberson; daughter, Shirley Stallworth (Andres) Tubbs; granddaughters, Nicolle Dupree, Sonia Stallworth, and Stacy (Rodney) Jones; sister-in-law, Estella Sutton; nephew, James Sutton; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Dupree and a son, Roger Dupree.
