Verna C Oehlbeck 2018

OBITUARY Verna C. Oehlbeck January 6, 1916 – December 2, 2018 Verna C. Oehlbeck, of Georgetown, TX, formerly of Rochester, NY, entered her eternal home in heaven, on December 2, 2018, at the age of 102. She was born into a family of ten children in Western New York, where she grew in her faith, married the love of her life, and was blessed with her five children. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Verna led her life based always on the word of God, devotion to her children and her love of chocolate. She moved to Georgetown, Texas in 2001 with her beloved husband of 65 years, William J. Oehlbeck. She loved crocheting and made numerous lap blankets for the retired priests and others in need at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She was consistently reaching out to others to see how she could help. She would offer a comforting conversation, praying the rosary, offering to bake cookies and incredible Christmas cakes or simply a smile and hand-holding. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, her daughter Joann (Roger, deceased) Rebman, son Robert Oehlbeck, brothers baby Shaw, Neil, Edwin, and Leo Shaw, and her sisters baby Helen Shaw, Helen Oehlbeck, and Anita Shane. She is survived by her daughter Diane (John) Cannan, son William (Ellen) Oehlbeck, daughter Luann (Scott) Gabel, daughter-in-law Suzanne Oehlbeck, sister Jeanette Sadwick, brother Tony Shaw, 15 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren. A Rosary service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Funeral Home of ALVAH HALLORAN & SON, 2125 Chili Ave., Gates. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 11:00AM.
