Mel Vanden Akker, 76, of Northbridge passed away on December 27, 2018 from pancreatic cancer. Mel was a long-time employee of Raytheon Corporation. Prior to that, he worked as an auto mechanic with his father, brother, and nephew at J&S Motors in Whitinsville. Mel is survived by his daughters,… Read More » Sherri Vanden Akker (Malcolm Coles) of Reading and Krystyn-Jo White of Wakefield; a brother, Stuart Vanden Akker (Deborah); a sister, Catherine Schaaphok; a brother-in-law, Herman Oosterman; three grandchildren, Madelaine, Margaret and Max; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Marge Smith. He was predeceased by his sister Wilma (Oosterman) and brother Raymond. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 10 AM – 12 Noon in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon in the church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Linwood Ave., Whitinsville. After burial, a reception will be held at the church.
