OBITUARY Mary Pinner Koon December 1, 1931 – December 30, 2018 COLUMBIA – Mary Pinner Koon, 87, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2018. Born December 1, 1931 in Newberry, SC, she is the daughter of the late Joel and Elizabeth Koon. Mary wore many hats in life, but by far, her favorite role was Nana. She loved her yard and the lake. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is predeceased by her husband of more than 60 years, William Lindsey Koon; two sisters, Dorothy K. Stabler and Martha K. Thomas; and one brother, Joe R. Koon, Sr. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Lisa Rector (Jason), three beloved grandchildren, William Sidney Rector, Jacob Daniel Rector, and Reagan Elizabeth Rector; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 2081 Dutch Fork Rd. White Rock, SC 29177. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow St. Irmo, SC 29063. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
