Obituary for Mrs. Florence Mae ‘Flo’ Izzo Florence Mae Casavoy Izzo, 86, of Bowling Green, FL passed away peaceful on December 09, 2018 in Wauchula FL, under the Vitas Hospice Comfort Care. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith and a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Wauchula, FL, and former member of The Council of Catholic Women She was currently a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Avon Park, FL. Florence, or “Flo” as she was affectionately referred to by her family and friends was born on January 15th, 1932, in Plattsburgh N.Y. to the late Anson Sr. & Mary Casavoy. Anson and Mary passed in 1973 and 1992 respectively. Flo was a graduate of Johnstown High School Class of 1950. In 1985, she graduated a member of The Dean’s List at Fulton Montgomery Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. On Sept., 27th 1952 she married Robert G. Izzo, at the former St. Patrick’s Church, in Johnstown. Robert passed on July 5th, 2008, in Bowling Green, FL. Flo started working as a telephone operator at the former General Telephone Co. Through persistence and hard work ethic, she was able to retire in 1990, after 40+ years with the company. Working her way up to the Drafting Dept. for Verizon Telecommunication Co. In 2005, Florence relocated to Bowling Green, FL where she would find new horizons and opportunities. She served one year as the Director-Secretary of Avion Palms Homeowners’ Assoc. in Bowling Green, FL as well as 6 summers serving as the Temporary Office Administrator for the Avion Palms. Florence also served two terms as the ‘Crafts Administrator’ for Avion Palms as well as volunteering to run and manage the local food bank. The Food Bank was located at St. Michael’s R.C. Church in Wauchula, FL where Flo would distribute 300-400 meals to those in need. There were times she was handed great obstacles, and through love, determination, and help from family or friends, Florence was able to feed and help hundreds of people in need of a meal. Something we all take for granted. Florence loved her family but also loved helping those in a time of need. She will be fondly remembered for her generous and determined soul. Florence leaves behind her loving children; Michael Izzo and his wife, Cheryl of Chesapeake, VA, and Richard Izzo, and his wife Patricia of Martinsburg WV, loving siblings’; Anson R. Cassavoy, Jr. of Fenton, MI, Janice A. Pierce, of St. Johnsville, NY, Joyce M. Ashbaugh, of Houghton Lake, MI and Susan Miner of Bowling Green, FL. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many nieces nephews, cousins, and friends are also left behind. She was predeceased by not only her parents and husband but also her son; Timothy Izzo, who passed in 2010. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, December 14th, 2019 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at The Chapel of Ehle and Barnett Family Funeral Home, Llc, 15 N. William Street, Johnstown, N.Y. 12095. Prayers will then be offered at 12:30, before heading to a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Parish, 205 Glebe St., Johnstown, N.Y. 12095 to begin at 1:00P.M. Due to inclement conditions; interment will take place at the besides her husband and son at the family plot at Ephratah Cemetery, to be announced in the spring of 2019.
