Obituary of Robert Letcher Robert “Bob” C. Letcher, 89, loving husband of Marie Rose Letcher, passed away on Saturday, November 24th at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia Born on June 2, 1929 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Clarence Letcher and Margaret Viola Letcher. He proudly served in the military for 4 years in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Upon return from service, he married Marie in September of 1953. After their wedding, Bob took his new bride and moved to sunny South Florida. There he was a successful automobile mechanic, owning and operating several service stations. He was very active in the Catholic community in Miami, serving as President of the Men’s Club at St. James Catholic Church for many years. They lived in Florida until they retired and moved to South Carolina in 2008. Mr. Letcher was also member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was a former 4th degree Knights of Columbus member. He will be remembered for his witty banter, his sly smiles and his unwavering support of his Miami Dolphins, but mostly for his faith in God and his abundant love for his family. Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years; two daughters, Patricia Trzcinski (Franklin) of Sumter, Lisa Lyons (James) of Vancouver, WA; one sister, Joan McDonald; four sisters-in-law, Roberta Rose, Shirley Ginther, Esther Runkle, Patty Rose; one brother-in-law, William Rose, Sr.; five grandchildren, Kristin O’Brien (Christopher), Jennifer Given (Samuel), Laura Girard (Jake), Forrest Glembo, and Hope Glembo; three great-granddaughters, Macie and Sophie O’Brien and Liza Ann Girard, one great-grandson, Henry O’Brien; his beloved 4-legged buddy, Charlie; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Letcher. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. Christopher Mahr, Dr. Michael Naylor, Mrs. Lauren Scott, FNP and Mrs. Laurin Lee, FNP for their care and support. The family would also like to thank the therapy and nursing staff at National Health Care and the Covenant Place for their extraordinary love and care for this past year. A Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 10 am at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Rufino Madridejos, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday following the mass at the home of his daughter, 310 Mallard Drive In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
