OBITUARY William Louis Simpson, Sr. December 3, 1933 – October 9, 2018 William Louis Simpson was born on December 3, 1933, to Bernard L. and Catherine Coleman Simpson. He was married to Margaret Stanley on June 4, 1957, who predeceased him on October 9, 2004. Bill was born and lived his life in Hanover County, where he enjoyed working in his shop making all things wood. He was an active member of Black Creek Baptist Church and was a retired Captain from the Richmond Fire Department. Bill was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy. He leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Russell P. Simpson of Henrico and James T. Simpson and his wife, Kaye, of Kilmarnock; and nieces, Tammy Simpson of Mechanicsville, Teresa Kinsey of Richmond and Mendy Socha of Mechanicsville. He was a friend to all, a mentor and counselor to many. His woodwork lives on in the homes and hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have benefited from his talents. He will be missed. At Bill’s request, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 11 a.m., in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238. No flowers or tributes, please.
