Shirley J Jacobs Carty 1933 2018

Obituary for Shirley Jacobs (Carty) Shirley J. (Carty) Crawford Jacobs, 85, of Lakewood, passed away at home on Sunday, Sept. 30. She was born on Valentine’s Day in 1933 to Haldon T. Carty Sr. and Elmira (Van Zant) Carty at Point Pleasant Hospital. Except for a short time in Key West FL, she lived at the Shore Area in Belmar, Neptune City, and Lakewood. Shirley graduated Manasquan High School in 1951. She was employed by Citicorp in Shrewsbury until retiring. She was a breast cancer survivor. Shirley was a longtime volunteer with the Cub and Girl Scouts, PTA, Belmar Women’s Club, Pine Creek Railroad, Ocean Grove Historical Society and their 4th of July parades, Mount Prospect Cemetery, and Red Hat Society. She was the family historian and loved travel and was an avid reader. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Haldon T. Jr, and his son Haldon (Tommy) III. Shirley is survived by her husband of 33 years, David C. Jacobs, her son Gary (Dawn) Crawford, her daughter Leslie Crawford (Kenny) Montanaro, her son Daniel (Joanna) Jacobs, her daughter Debra J. Jacobs, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and niece Louise Carty (Clem)Brandenburg, along with best friends Paula Zawadzky and Pat and George Navas. A memorial service will be held at the Thursday October 4, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ.
