Salvatore A Sal Madelone 1942 2018

Obituary for Salvatore “Sal” Madelone Salvatore A. Madelone, 75, of Rotterdam passed away on Sunday September 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Angelo and Angela (San Filippo) Madelone. Sal graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1961. He was drafted in to the US Army on October 20, 1964. Sal then went to basic training in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He spent time in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and trained on 155 Howitzers. For the rest of his military duty, Sal was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany. He got out of the military in 1967 and went to barber school in Schenectady, NY. Sal competed in two hairstylist contests in Boston and NYC in 1971 and in 1972. He won awards at both events. Sal will always be remembered as a caring and generous man. Sal had a love for giving and always trying to take care of the other guy. One of his famous sayings was “kindness”. He enjoyed giving people a little gesture of money or a piece of jewelry, or a bottle of wine to show his appreciation and care for one another. He shared the things he had with others knowing that when he was growing up, times were tough. Sal always put the other person first before himself no matter what it took. His love for cutting hair as one of the best hairstylists that ever lived has touched many people for 51 years. Sal would like to extend a special thanks to Gregory Zorian for his knowledge and skill in cutting hair. He would like to extend thanks to all his customers for their kindness and love over the years. Not only did I like the job, I loved the job and would do it day and night. Sal enjoyed meeting and working with people his whole career. People first then money, then things. A message from the great one Sal: To all my customers, I sincerely and respectfully appreciate your kindness and love over the years as your barber and hair stylist. I passed through the world but once! Sal is survived by his loving brother Thomas Madelone (Wendy) of Guilderland, his loving uncle Cirero Madelone of Schenectady, his loving niece Erika Pelletier (Noel) of Dunaesburg and loving nephew Nicholas Madelone of Troy.
