Alice Janet Searcy

(Age 98)

Sunday afternoon, September 30th, while at home in Greenacres, WA surrounded by loving, doting family, Alice Searcy, 98, passed into eternal rest in the arms of her beloved savior ending a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Alice Janet Tollefson was born May 18, 1920 in Vining, Ottertail County, Minnesota to Theodore and Amanda (Hoff) Tollefson. She grew up and attended school in Shevlin, Minnesota.

During World War II, she worked in Ipsilanti, Michigan at the Willow Run defense plant, building the B17 Bomber. At the end of the war, she married Ivan Bakke, upon his return from military duty. To this union their two daughters, Susan and Donna were born. Their family lived in the Shevlin area, spending a few years in Minneapolis.

In 1968, Alice married William Searcy, and they resided in the Seattle area before moving to Kendrick, ID in 1980. Alice was living with her daughter, Susan, at the time of her death.

Alice was a Prayer Warrior, who loved her Lord with all her heart and soul. Her family looked to her for spiritual guidance and prayer when troubled. She picked up a paint brush at the age of 80 and discovered her artistic talents, leaving behind numerous water-color paintings.

Alice leaves her two daughters, Susan (Roger) Syverson of Greenacres, WA and Donna Syverson of Lewiston, ID, five grandchildren and their spouses, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Searcy, son-in-law Roy Syverson, her parents, sisters Amy Rud and Thora Cartwright; brothers, Odin, Roy & Millerd Tollefson and her beloved Bestafad.

Funeral services and burial will be at Southwick Bible Church, Kendrick, ID, on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm. A visitation is scheduled Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 3 – 7 pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. The family has requested that memorials be sent to Southwick Bible Church or the Gideon Bible Society.
