Ramon attended Walla Walla High School. Ramon worked as a cook for the majority of his career but his true passion was with music. Ramon grew up as a drummer and loved playing music for others to enjoy. Playing the drums was his passion, his escape and his solace. He found his peace in music and played with the Tejano band, Grupo Mizmo with his brothers and his nephew. Ramon also had a true love for the Dallas Cowboys and spent his Sundays with the family cheering them on. Ramon loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was BBQ’ing on the weekend, getting together for breakfast or just a short visit on the lunch hour. Ramon’s greatest accomplishment will always be the birth of his son Adrian, for whom he loved more than words can express. He held such pride for Adrian and will never forget the day he watched him graduate from high school. Ramon will forever live on in the hearts of all that were lucky enough to know him. He has been reunited in heaven with his parents, Julian and Teodora and his sister, Lupe, where he will watch over and bless each of us until we meet again. Ramon was preceded in death by his father, Julian Ocanaz, his mother Teodora Ocanaz, his sister Lupe Ocanaz, his brother in law Santos Garcia and his nephew Gavin McEvoy. He is survived by his son Adrian Ocanaz-Barker of Walla Walla, three brothers and two sisters, Luis and Debra Ocanaz, Manuel and Nelda Ocanaz, Domingo and Judy Ocanaz and Maria Ocanaz-Garcia, all of Walla Walla and Rosie and Rick McEvoy of Milton-Freewater. Ramon is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 1pm at Kairos Church (2139 Fern St, WW), with a reception to follow.
