OBITUARY Myrtle Yvonne Rigney April 12, 1942 – October 5, 2018 Myrtle Yvonne Rigney of Danville, VA passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. She was born on April 12, 1942 in Spray, NC to the late Benjamin Franklin Gravely and Elizabeth Davis Gravely. She was also preceded in death by her son, Earl Junior Rigney; and eight brothers, Joe Sanford Gravely, Earnest Clarence Gravely, James Drwey Gravely, Luther Herman Gravely, Cecil Edward Gravely, Lonnie Timothy Gravely, David Franklin Gravely, and Jimmy Arnold Gravely. Myrtle is survived by her devoted husband, Edgar Junior Rigney. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 12, 2018. She is also survived by her son, John Ray Rigney and wife, June Annette, of Cascade, VA; a brother, Marvin Matthew Gravely of Stoneville, NC; and a sister, Gladys Mae Harris of Martinsville, VA. Myrtle loved to sing and spent many joy filled hours with her devotional bible reading. She liked to crochet and made many blankets and pocketbooks to give away over the years. She was also a skilled seamstress and quilter. Perhaps, her greatest talent was cooking. Her family remembers many wonderful meals prepared by her loving hands. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2018 in the McKee-Stone Funeral Service Chapel (other times at the residence). The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Reverend Darryl Joyce of Liberty Baptist Church and Reverend John Rigney presiding. There will be a private interment at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
