Obituary for Jacqueline R. Smith Jacqueline R. Smith Jacqueline Mae (Reich) Smith died at St. Vincent Hospital, Portland OR, on Thursday, September 21, 2018 due to complications associated with multiple mylemoma cancer and AL amyloidosis. Jacquie was born in York, PA on December 5, 1951, the daughter of Jack and Janet (Waltemyer) Reich. She attended grade school in York, PA and high school at Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, TX. She was a 1973 graduate of North Texas State University, Denton TX, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1974 to 1976 at Lackland AFB, San Antonio TX, achieving the rank of Sergeant. While in the USAF she met her husband-to-be, Michael Smith – the couple celebrated their 43rd anniversary on June 21, 2018. Jacquie enjoyed a variety of positions in the hospitality and education fields, and was a licensed medical assistant, but she was best known for her joyous and enthusiastic exploration of all things new. Her humor was delightful, her laughter infectious, and she made friends in bunches. She was a Master Gardener, a dedicated yoga practitioner, an ardent advocate of no-kill pet shelters, and loved all things medical. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Mahlon Smith of Tigard, OR, and Justin Smith, of Alexandria, VA; their spouses, Nadine and Yarissa; and three beloved grandchildren, Naia, Josephine, and Mateo. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future at the convenience of the family.
