The family would also like to thank Stillwater Hospice for the care they provided Don. He was born September 29, 1929, on a farmstead three miles north of Joliet, Montana, to Iva Nichols Blaylock and DeWitt Blaylock, who had moved from Kansas and were early settlers of Joliet. Donald was the seventh of seven children. He attended school in Joliet and graduated from Joliet High School in May of 1947. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954, after which he attended what was then Eastern Montana College in Billings from 1954 to 1956. He transferred to the University of Montana in 1956, graduating in June 1958. For two years, beginning in September 1958, Donald worked for American Chrome Company of Nye, Montana. Following his retirement from BNSF in 1991, he divided his time between Billings, Montana, and Fort Worth, Texas. He was a font of knowledge, had a keen sense of humor, a laugh that could shake the rafters, a great heart, a love of reading, and a gleeful passion for homegrown fireworks displays on the Fourth of July. Also, he never missed an opportunity to needle his Bobcat nieces and nephews when his beloved Grizzlies mauled the Cats. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Ima Wallace, Clifford Blaylock, Oneita Luoma, Knox Blaylock, Jackie Blaylock (infant), and Chester Blaylock. He faithfully attended and supported Our Savior’s Episcopal Church in Joliet. In Texas, each Sunday found him worshipping at the Cathedral of Hope in Dallas. A memorial service will be held September 1st at 11:00 AM at the Red Lodge Episcopal Church. To send flowers to the family of Donald “Don” Blaylock, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
