Dolores Dee Spear

Dolores Dee Spear Miller 2018

Dolores “Dee” Spear Miller Passed away on Saturday evening September 29th at the Jewish Home in Harrisburg, PA. Dee lived in various parts of the United States, but came back to Harrisburg because she liked living there. She was born in the Bronx, NY and her first move to Harrisburg was in childhood. She graduated from John Harris High School. The limited space of an obituary makes it impossible to list her roster of good friends dating back to school days – so close to so many. Her late husband, Nathan, always said she could establish close relationships just standing in line at the super market. Before retiring, Dee worked in various administrative and supervisory positions concentrating on human services. After retirement she concentrated on volunteer work which she enjoyed immensely. She will be survived by her son, Mark Spear, his wife Vicki of Bradfordwoods, and their daughter Hannah and her fiancé Jon Ott of Shaler, PA. She is also survived by her daughter Linda Zakar and her husband Steve of Ashland, MA and their three daughters. Rachael who is married to Randy Stutz and their two children Lucy and Emily all living in Kensington, MD; Sara and Kelly Zakar; and Jessica and her husband Matthew all living in the Boston, MA area. She is also survived by her nephews Allan Clionsky and his wife Christy of Harrisburg and Mitchell Clionsky and his wife Emily of Long Meadow, MA, as well as nieces Linda Glickman of Cooper City, FL, Barbara Chale and her husband Allen, of Roslyn Heights, NY, and Nancy Zimmerman and her husband Bob, of Alpharetta, GA, a niece Betsy Isroelit, Los Angeles, CA and grand-nephews Todd and his wife Heather, and their two daughters, Jessica and Emma, Agora Hills, CA and Sean Isroelit of Los Angeles, CA. She wants you to remember her with a few lines from a favorite poem: “When I come to the end of the day, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared…Miss me but let me go….When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds…Miss me but let me go.” A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Beth El Cemetery Chapel, S. Progress Ave, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Burial will follow in Chisuk Emuna Cemetery, 34th and Oliver St. Harrisburg PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Central Pa Chapter 101, Erford Road Suite 201 Camp Hill, PA 17011.
