Concetta Richardson 1930 2018

Obituary of Concetta Richardson Concetta (aka Connie) Richardson Our mom loved her family, her home, her friends and Bellmore. Moving to her house on Orange Street in 1955, she raised a family of 5 and loved nothing better than to entertain. She always got in the spirit of things making sure the house overly decorated for each holiday and the table filled with more home cooked and desserts than we could eat in a week. She had the best sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved a party. She was the parent of an Intellectually Challenged son, but never saw him as a problem or obstacle. She taught us to never be ashamed of our brother and how he would be treated in our family and others. Where we went, he went. She was our role model. Because of her, Frank moved on to successfully adapt to living in a group home where he continues to grow more independent and social everyday. Over the years, Mom often opened her home up to relatives and friends months at a time. If you needed a place to stay, “Aunt Connie” never turned you down. You could talk and she would listen. She might not have the answer but you could stay as long as you needed. As for careers, she had hopes of being a career woman and worked for Franklin National Bank for a number of years. Unfortunately, Jones Beach, Field 9 and summers off got in the way. Ultimately, finding ways to have the summer off became her biggest challenge. We used to tease her about making some money writing a book, “Work Full Time- Have off April till October”. My mother rarely saw anything as a problem or an obstacle. There was no wall she couldn’t climb over, go under, go around or punch her way through. Just ask the Macy’s sales lady. If she wanted to return a pair of shoes she wore for a year, they had the cash in their hands ready to hand it to her before she even opened her mouth. Concetta Richardson, age 87, on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She is the daughter of the late Victor and the late Emilia (Grimaldi) Marinello. Beloved mother of two daughters: Joann Garber and Loretta Vernet, and three sons: Thomas, Jim and Frank Richardson. Caring sister of 4 Sisters and 6 Brothers. Cherished gransmother of 5 grandchildren and loving great-grandmother to 2. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 2 from 2-4 & 7-9:00pm at Clair S. Bartholomew & Son, Inc., 302 So. Bedford Ave., Bellmore, NY. The funeral service will be held 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery/Resurrection, 2015 Wellwood Ave. Farmingdale on Wednesday, October 3 at 11:00 am.
