Agnes Joan Devins of The Residence at Shelburne Bay, Shelburne, Vermont passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2018 at the age of 96. A private memorial service for family, friends and caregivers will be held in November at the Ready Funeral Home, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to a church, Hospice or favorite charity. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Agnes was born in July of 1922, the youngest of three daughters of Clara and John Mills. She grew up in the small town of Sus, New Brunswick, Canada. She attended business school in St. John, New Brunswick. After graduating, Agnes moved to Montreal, Quebec where she worked as an executive secretary with a Montreal Utility Company. In Montreal she met John Devins, a chemist from Nova Scotia. John and Agnes married in July of 1948. They eventually settled in Burnt Hills, NY where John was employed with the General Electric Company. The couple raised five children. Agnes and John returned every year to Atlantic Canada to share the beauty of the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and their family heritage with their five children. Agnes was a homemaker and loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Burnt Hills Baptist Church and her enduring faith, optimism and sense of humor were gifts she gave to her children and grandchildren. She was a constant and enduring presence in their lives. Agnes is survived by her five children, Anne (Donald) Beevers, Adams, NY, Lynn (Randall) Westgren, Colombia, MO, John (Sheila) Devins, Seeley Lake, MT, Thomas (Margaret Treanor) Devins, Colchester, VT, and Robert (Julie) Devins, Burlington, VT, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Kristopher (Charlene, Kayen) Beevers, Jersey City, NJ, Blaise (Laura, Hale) Devins, Seeley Lake, MT, Kimberlee Beevers (Brendan Sullivan), Boston, MA, Riley Devins, Missoula, MT, Jaime Devins (Evan Long), Portland, ME, Kerry Devins, Burlington, VT, Caryn (Cooper) Strickland, Lynn, NC, Rory Devins, Portland, OR and Dana Westgren, Washington, D.C. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
